Hannah asks The Elixir Fix’s contributors and interviewees the same six questions so we can get to know these inspiring women a little better!
How often do you practice self-love (daily/weekly?) and what is your go to act of self-love?
To me, self-love is about finding the space to genuinely be present in what I’m doing, to clear my mind and to be active in my body. Surfing is my go-to to do exactly that – when I’m in the ocean, I feel most alive and at peace. I think people don’t practice self-love enough, women in particular, because there are so many things fighting for our attention every single day. So, we have to really carve out time for ourselves – without replenishing your energy and investing in yourself, you aren’t in a position to truly help and support other people.
What is the guilty pleasure you most enjoy indulging in?
I think pop culture is often considered a ‘guilty pleasure’ and less worthy of other art-forms or pursuits, but for me, it’s where the gold is! Currently, I’m all about bingeing RuPaul’s Drag Race, Shakira’s power anthems and a good choccy milk.
Favourite place you’ve travelled to and why is it so special to you?
Israel, hands down. It is such a vibrant place, and everything feels charged – socially, politically, spiritually. The landscapes are stunning, the people are incredibly hospitable, every beer comes with a shisha and there is a whole supermarket aisle dedicated to hommus. What more could you want?!
How do you like to let your creative juices flow?
Photography is my favourite creative pursuit and has been for years now. I particularly love the editing process. There is something so cool about being able to manipulate colours and mix media together to create wonderfully weird imagery. I’m obsessed with digital collage at the moment.
What piece of advice would you give your 14-year-old self?
Never be sorry for who you really are. Don’t be shy about expressing yourself. Oh, and don’t waste time dating boys, you’re gay as fuck.
What would you like to achieve in the next 5 years?
I want to immerse myself in everything visual. I’d like to pursue photography and graphic and fashion design professionally and continue to build Frakture’s brand and community. If I can be creative all day, every day and make some sweet $$ doing it, I’ll be a happy woman. It’s also really important for me to keep engaging with feminism and queer rights and I’d especially like to support young people in whatever ways I can.
